The New York Yankees could have some important slugger returning to the lineup very soon. They have been without Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton as the duo has been on the IL working through their injuries.
Stanton has been on the IL since June 22 after suffering a hamstring injury against the Atlanta Braves. Rizzo has been out since June 18 after suffering a fractured radial neck in his right arm against the Boston Red Sox.
The duo has been spotted on the field getting some work in ahead of the Yanks' Tuesday matchup with the New York Mets.
Rizzo was seen getting some agility work in on the field. Stanton, on the other hand, was getting some swings in during batting practice.
It should only be a matter of time until both sluggers are back and producing. With the way the AL East is shaping up, the Bronx Bombers need all the bats they can get to keep up with Baltimore.
The Yankees must have a strong second half
The Yankees started to fall flat ahead of the MLB All-Star break. They dropped some series they should not have, like when the Cincinnati Reds swept them to open up July.
They cannot expect to stay in contention in the AL East by dropping series like that. They must come out and compete in every single game during the second half because every game counts. They are currently 1.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles, who have been one of the most exciting teams to watch.
Players like Juan Soto and Aaron Judge must keep up their offensive presence while the pitching staff finds their groove again. This team has too much talent across the board to fizzle out during the second half of the season.
