Jack Flaherty, 29, has entered free agency after winning the World Series this year. MLB insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic believes that the New York Yankees will be the best fit for him.

After a successful season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and some standout performances in the playoffs, the right-handed pitcher has been linked to several teams. According to Bowden, the Yankees will be in on Flaherty to deepen their rotation options for next year:

“The Yankees seem to be a perfect fit for Flaherty, whom they came close to acquiring at last season’s trade deadline," says Bowden.

Jack Flaherty was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2014 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in 2017.

After seven years in St. Louis, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2023. Flaherty spent the 2024 season divided between the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, ultimately playing a huge role in the LA side's postseason success.

Yankees came close to trading for Flaherty ahead of the dealine last season but evetually pulled out due injury concerns about the pitcher.

He was traded to the Dodgers, who reaped the rewards for putting their trust on him. With Flaherty now available as a free agent, Bowden writes that the Yankees are ready to take a risk on Flaherty despite his fitness history. Bowden has predicted a three-year, $52 million deal for Flaherty with the Yankees.

MLB insider predicts Jack Flaherty to sign a five-year deal with the Gaints

Just days after the Los Angeles Dodgers swept up Blake Snell as a free agent, ESPN's David Schoenfield predicts that the San Francisco Giants will hit back by signing Jack Flaherty.

According to Schoenfield, the Giants will sign Flaherty on a five-year, $115 million deal as they look to make a splash this winter.

After the Giants signed Snell on a two-year contract last year, the pitcher spent a large part of the season in the IL before choosing to opt-out of his contract at the end of the season.

The Giants now have a chance to replace Snell with Flaherty to bolster their starting rotation for next year. However, with a host of teams interested in the pitcher, it remains to be seen if they can pull it off.
