A look at the Yankees' offseason
The New York Yankees have enjoyed a successful offseason. A major storyline for the team was the pending free agency of reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge. While fans were optimistic that their superstar would re-sign with the club, there was reason to worry.
The San Francisco Giants were reportedly major contenders to sign Judge. However, New York and their superstar reached a historic agreement in early December.
"Jeter told Judge he’d take him out to lunch to help him through free agency. Then Judge signed his contract so Jeter said that Judge had to take him out for breakfast, lunch and dinner" - Talkin' Yanks
Judge signed a nine-year, $360 million contract with the club. The deal carries an average annual salary of $40 million. Mets starters Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are the only players who will have higher salaries next season.
Now, with Judge signed long-term, as well as landing Carlos Rodon in free agency, the Yankees will be squarely focused on the upcoming season.
