The New York Yankees' top 30 prospects list is riddled with potential stars. While the Yankees of old didn't have much farm system to speak of, the modern day Yankees have changed their philosophy. It's not a farm system like the one the Baltimore Orioles or San Diego Padres boast, but it is a capable system.
There are players in there that are itching to get into the majors and a few that have experience playing with the big league clubs- including in last year's playoffs.
Here are the Yankees' top 30 prospects:
- Anthony Volpe, SS
- Jasson Dominguez, OF
- Oswald Peraza, SS/2B
- Austin Wells, C
- Everson Pereira, OF
- Trey Sweeney, SS
- Spencer Jones, OF
- Will Warren, RHP
- Clayton Beeter, RHP
- Luis Gil, RHP
- Roderick Arias, SS
- Yoendrys Gomez, RHP
- Drew Thorpe, RHP
- Randy Vasquez, RHP
- Trystan Vrieling, RHP
- Antonio Gomez, C
- Anthony Hall, OF
- Luis Serna, RHP
- Elijah Dunham, OF
- Josh Breaux, C
- Brendan Beck, RHP
- Jhony Brito, RHP
- Sean Hermann, RHP
- Deivi Garcia, RHP
- Alexander Vargas, SS
- Brandon Lockridge, OF
- Edgar Barclay, LHP
- Juan Carela, RHP
- Richard Fitts, RHP
- Carson Coleman, RHP
Some of these talented prospects will never pan out. Some had a shot and haven't made it yet, like Deivi Garcia (who actually started a playoff game for the Yankees) and Luis Gil.
There are also players ready to burst through to the big leagues, like Oswald Peraza, Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez.
Which of the New York Yankees top 30 prospects will be in the majors this year?
Of all the prospects the Yankees' top 30 prospects list boasts, none are more MLB-ready than Anthony Volpe. The MLB's number five overall prospect is expected to make his debut this season and is even expected to compete for the starting shortstop job.
He'll be seen in Spring Training, which is where Jasson Dominguez will also be. Given that there's a hole in left field, there's a very good chance Dominguez, if he looks ready, can play some outfield for the Yankees this year.
Expect Oswald Peraza to be on the major league roster this year or at the very least be the first one called up from the minors, too.
