Yankees will face Padres for the final game of the series on Sunday 26th May

The New York Yankees are on a four-game winning streak. They defeated the San Diego Padres in Games 1 and 2 of their ongoing three-game series and would now look to sweep them off by winning Game 3 on Sunday.

Game 2 of the series was dominated by the Yanks again. They took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, with their captain, Aaron Judge, hitting a home run and Anthony Volpe scoring.

Judge's home run brought his total for the season to 17, tying him with Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros and Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles as the MLB home run leaders of the 2024 series.

The Bronx Bombers then further went ahead with their lead in the fourth inning, taking it to 4-0. Padres just scored one run in the eighth inning, making it 4-1; however, that was the final scoreline of the game.

The Pads would try hard to break out of their two-game losing streak and try to clinch the first victory against the Yankees in Game 3 of this series.

Yankees vs. Padres: Head-to-Head

Game 3 of the Yankees vs. Padres series will be telecasted live from the PETCO Park on YES network at 4:10 PM EDT and fans can also view the online streaming on FUBO TV.

To date, both teams have faced each other 23 times. The Yankees have the upper hand in this rivalry, having won 15 of those games.

Yankees vs. Padres: Pitching Predictions

Clarke Schmidt will start things off on the mound for the AL East leaders. The 28-year-old RHP has played and started 10 games so far this season for the Yanks and holds a record of 5-2 while having an ERA of 2.59 and WHIP of 1.13, along with 61 strikeouts.

For the NL West side, Joe Musgrove will start on the mound. So far this season, Musgrove has made nine starts for the Padres and has a record of 3-4 with an ERA of 6.14, WHIP of 1.52 and 39 strikeouts.

Yankees vs. Padres: Prediction

With two consecutive wins in this series, the Yankees are favored to win the third game as well. Padres pitching has to face the Yanks' dominant hitting line-up of Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Alex Verdugo, Anthony Rizzo and others. It would be tough for them to keep Aaron Boone's side silent for long.

Even if they are controlled, the Yankees have a formidable pitching lineup consisting of Schmidt and relievers such as Clay Holmes, who will surely create problems for the Padres hitters.
