MLB podcaster Ben Verlander had an interesting take on the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers. These two teams could well meet in the NLCS this year as they've been two of the best teams in baseball, but Verlander thinks there's a glaring difference.

At the Home Run Derby, Teoscar Hernandez was joined in his win by one singular All-Star teammate. Alec Bohm, though he didn't win, had his full roster of All-Star teammates present for his performance.

Verlander said:

"I was a little bit disappointed in his Dodger All-Star teammates. Teo gets to the finals of the Home Run Derby. Tyler Glasnow's the only one there."

He went on to say he understands that players have things to do, whether it's dinners or family outings, but that this was a big moment for Hernandez. This sort of thing doesn't happen often, and no one was there for Hernandez.

"To contrast the Phillies and what they did. Alec Bohm made it a good bit into the Home Run Derby. All of them stayed. All of their All-Stars were there for him. I just found that to be interesting."

Verlander said this was possibly part of a broader conversation about the two teams. He also added that he might be looking too much into something small:

"It just feels like, stepping back for a bit, you can see it. You can see the difference of what's happening... This team is different."

From the on-field play to the locker room camaraderie, Verlander believes this Phillies team has something different than the Dodgers.

Will either the Phillies or Dodgers win the World Series?

The locker room experience that the Philadelphia Phillies have now matters a lot for success. But so does talent, which the Los Angeles Dodgers certainly have. Will they meet or will one of them win the World Series?

Per FanDuel, the Los Angeles Dodgers, despite some injuries and depth problems, are still the World Series favorites at +320. Just behind them are the Philadelphia Phillies at +420. The New York Yankees at +550 are the best AL team in terms of odds.

The Dodgers and Phillies are the two favorites to make the World Series from the NL for good reason. They are the main two teams to beat in the conference, and it does seem likely one of them will make the World Series. As to whether either will win it, it's simply too early to say.
