"You are truly a gift from above" - Dansby Swanson celebrates wife Mallory Swanson's match-winning goal that sealed gold for U.S. in Paris Olympics

Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson celebrated his wife Mallory Swanson's achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics when the USA women's soccer team won the finals against a tough Brazilian unit. The matchup finished 1-0 in favor of the Americans, who claimed their fifth gold medal in women's soccer at the quadrennial event, and their first since the 2012 London Olympics.

Mallory Swanson scored the winner in the 57th minute of the contest. After that, it was all about parking the bus and defending their lead. Dansby Swanson shared an Instagram post with a heartfelt caption to celebrate his wife's win:

"God is so good. Always and forever. You are such an inspiration to so many, but more to me than anyone can ever fathom. Your faith in God’s plan, gratitude in life, the grace and joy in which you live and play, the perseverance to fight through whatever obstacles thrown your way.

Dansby Swanson and Mallory Swanson have been each other's strength for almost eight years now

In 2017, Jace Peterson, Dansby Swanson's former teammate and the husband of Mallory Swanson's older sister Brianna, arranged for the two to meet on a blind date. The duo hit it off immediately and soon started dating. The couple got engaged a month after Dansby claimed the World Series title with the Atlanta Braves in 2021.

They exchanged vows in an enchanted forest-themed wedding at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee in December 2022. They celebrated their first anniversary in 2023, and Dansby Swanson shared an Instagram post with the caption:

"To my beautiful amazing wife, Happy anniversary! God has blessed us with so much, and will continue to do so. No matter how challenging times get, or how great they may be, keeping our faith in Him will continue to lead this marriage.
