What is the name of the Philadelphia Phillies’ Stadium?

Citizens Bank Park

Citizens Bank Park is the official home stadium of the Philadelphia Phillies as per the MLB official site. This state-of-the-art facility opened on April 3, 2004, replacing the team's previous home, Veterans Stadium.

Citizens Bank Park History/ Citizens Bank Park Construction and Cost

The idea for a new ballpark for the Philadelphia Phillies emerged in the late 1990s due to the aging and outdated facilities of Veterans Stadium. The push for a new stadium was gained after a railing collapsed at "The Vet" during the 1998 Army-Navy Game, resulting in injuries to eight cadets as per Baseball In Stadiums. This resulted in the increased demand for a new stadium from the Philadelphia Phillies of the MLB and the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL in 1999.

The architectural firms EwingCole and HOK Sport (now Populous) were responsible for designing the new ballpark. The goal was to create a stadium with modern amenities and features aimed at enhancing the fan experience, including improved sightlines. The construction of Citizens Bank Park began, and it officially opened on April 3, 2004, with an exhibition game between the Phillies and the Cleveland Indians. The first regular-season game took place on April 12, 2004, against the Cincinnati Reds. The construction cost of Citizens Bank Park amounted to $458 million. Taking inflation into account, this would equate to $739 million in 2023 dollars.
