The New York Yankees probably have one significant move left in them, and it will be to shore up their infield. They currently have three of the four spots locked down, and they either need a third baseman or a second baseman. Here are the moves they can make to address that hole.

What the Yankees can do to solidify their infield

5) Alex Bregman

This option remains a long shot. The Yankees are unlikely to commit to another $200 million signing this offseason, but it makes a lot of sense. Alex Bregman can fill the leadoff spot and plays good defense at third base.

The longer his free agency lasts, the more likely someone will get him for a cheaper, shorter deal than he wants. That bodes well for the Yankees, who don't want to send their payroll skyrocketing again.

4) Alec Bohm

The Yankees could fill the third-base spot with Alec Bohm. The Philadelphia Phillies infielder likely projects as a long-term first baseman, but the Yankees don't have one of those beyond this year. He can play third and then move when Paul Goldschmidt leaves.

Bohm was an All-Star, but he really fell off in the second half. That drove his value way down, and the Yankees could strike and get a cheaper deal for a player with some obvious upside.

3) Luis Arraez

Luis Arraez could well be a Yankee soon. They are in talks with the San Diego Padres, and that's the most headway they've made on a deal of any kind in a little while. However, this move would not be the best for a few reasons.

Arraez is not a good defender. If the Yankees didn't care about defense, they should've signed Gleyber Torres, who also proved he could hit in the leadoff spot.

Arraez won't cost much (the Padres reportedly want to start with Marcus Stroman), but he's not going to move the needle on defense like some other options. His contact rate is highly desirable to a team with a lot of power hitters, though.

2) Carlos Correa

There have been rumors that the Yankees are possibly going to pursue Carlos Correa in a blockbuster deal with the Minnesota Twins. This would make them a much better team overall, but it doesn't quite solve the positional issue.

Correa is a shortstop. Anthony Volpe, a two-time Gold Glove finalist and one-time winner, probably won't be moving off. Correa would probably slide to third and push Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second.

1) Brandon Lowe

For a myriad of reasons, this trade would be the best one to shore up that second-base position. Brandon Lowe is a better defender than Arraez by a wide margin, but he will be cheaper than dealing for Correa.

Lowe is under team control for the next two seasons, which does up his price but also makes sure the Yankees have an extra year to determine if he's their second baseman of the future or if they need to continue looking. Plus, his left-handed bat would do well in Yankee Stadium.
