Right field is a very deep position in the MLB. There are so many superstars at the position and even some future Hall of Famers. Heading into the 2025 season, here are the best of the best.
Best RF in MLB right now
10) Colton Cowser
A Rookie of the Year finalist, Colton Cowser was brilliant in Year 1. He's expected to move over to right field with Anthony Santander gone, and his 2.0 projected fWAR ranks among the top 10. His 4.0 last year was excellent as well.
9) Lawrence Butler
Fangraphs projects Lawrence Butler to record 3.3 fWAR for the Athletics in right field. He played well in his time at the MLB level in 2024 and is poised for a breakout. That projection would be among the top 10 at the position.
8) Anthony Santander
Among right fielders last year, no one had more home runs than Anthony Santander. His career-high of 44 landed him a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, although he might play more left field than right.
7) Teoscar Hernandez
Teoscar Hernandez had the sixth-most fWAR among all right fielders last year, and that includes his teammate Mookie Betts who was primarily an infielder. He was a revelation for the Los Angeles Dodgers and won the Home Run Derby.
6) Ronald Acuna Jr.
It's hard to tell what Ronald Acuna Jr. will be able to do once he returns, but he is a special player. His last full season resulted in 41 home runs and 73 steals, and no one has ever done that before.
5) Corbin Carroll
Corbin Carroll rebounded from a truly dismal start to have one of the best seasons by a right fielder last year. He recorded a 4.1 fWAR, which was thanks largely to excellent defense and baserunning. He had a 107 wRC+ but should be even better in 2025.
4) Fernando Tatis Jr.
Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the best right fielders in baseball. He only played 102 games last year, but he's going to have an excellent season this year if he stays healthy. He hit a 3.2 fWAR in those 102 games. That's a 5.2-pace for a full season.
3) Kyle Tucker
Kyle Tucker was injured a lot last year, but he was an MVP candidate before getting hurt and would've probably been one if he'd played the full season. He still recorded an astonishing 4.2 fWAR in just 78 games, which is on pace for over 8.0.
2) Juan Soto
Juan Soto is one of the best right fielders in baseball, but not really because of his defense. He can play left field but is likely to take right with the New York Mets. His 8.1 fWAR led all right fielders last season because a certain someone played center field.
1) Aaron Judge
Aaron Judge is back in right field for 2025, which means he's the best at the position. He's much better defensively there, but he had an over 11 fWAR despite pretty poor defense when being out of position in center field. His 218 wRC+ is unrivaled by anyone in baseball, let alone anyone at his position.
