Kansas City Royals beat Cleveland Indians 4-1

Yordano Ventura

The offense was quiet on both sides until Kansas City scored in the bottom of the third on a Mike Moustakas double. With one out, a sacrifice fly (pop-up) scored Alcides Escobar from third. Things weren’t really happening, so Esky was making them happen. Eric Hosmer came in next and drew his first walk since May 25th.

Through four, the Royals had a 3-0 lead. This game was a snooze-fest. They literally put me to sleep, and I don’t feel an ounce of remorse.

The Indians finally scored their first run in the sixth inning when Yordano Ventura put two on with nobody out. That’s all that would come about of the Indians would-be rally.

For whatever reason, Terry Francona decided to pull Trevor Bauer right before Mike Moustakas came to the plate. Mark Rzepczynski (please don’t ask me to spell that again) came on and got the final two outs to keep the score 3-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Omar Infante scored on a sac fly from Billy Butler. Don’t worry, Billy Haters, he only had one RBI today.

Yordano Ventura was absolutely phenomenal today. 7.0 innings of one-run baseball. Ventura really looked like an ace in the making. He could not have made me prouder.

There were a few things I did not expect. The first thing was that Moose has had hits in consecutive games. What really got me was that, today he had a multi-hit game. Another unexpected event was that we had four sac flies. Generally, we don’t see a whole lot of sac flies, but I guess Dale Sveum has changed the approach. Another shocking thing that happened was that Wade Davis loaded the bases with no outs. What was very expected was that Davis still left the game without a run scored.

It was a very good team win that featured sac flies, dominant pitching, and great defense. With tomorrow’s scheduled off day, the Royals will look to cruise into Chicago, and take two of three, or even sweep the ChiSox. It’ll be a long wait until the next Royals game, but just remember that it will be okay.
