The MLB offseason is going on and the offseason activities are in full swing. Since the previous season concluded there have been a lot of changes on the rosters of many teams.

Each team is trying to improve themselves before going into the 2025 season. Be it potential player trades or the potential signings of free agents, every team is trying to improve.

With that being said, Justin Verlander, the three-time Cy Young Award winner and future Hall of Famer, and a free agent currently, has confirmed his intention to return for the 2025 season.

This announcement has led to discussions regarding potential landing spots, with the Baltimore Orioles emerging as a notable contender for his services.

On Friday, MLB Network's official X handle shared a post that was a video of a segment from Friday's episode of "Hot Stove." The video that was posted included insights from MLB insider Jon Morosi regarding the Orioles' interest in signing Justin Verlander.

"The news I can share with everyone this morning is that, I did some checking on this yesterday and all three of them (Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw) are still definitely planning to pitch in 2025. So, that's all good news. We still have our future hall of famers in the fold. I was told with respect to Verlander, in great shape and there's multiple teams interested in JV," said Morosi.
"With respect to Verlander, it is interesting that there are one team that we talked about yesterday on this show, Lauren. The Baltimore Orioles needing some pitching help still, and they have been talking to (Dylan) Cease, maybe even (Jack) Flaherty," he added.
"Verlander could be a nice possibility there of course, he grew up in Goochland County, Virginia, which is not that far away from Baltimore, Maryland," concluded Morosi.

The 2024 season was not the best one in the case of Justin Verlander as he was ruled out for almost two months due to a neck injury. The former Houston Astros pitcher played 17 games and had an ERA of 5.48 in 90.1 innings. He managed to strikeout 74 batters, while keeping a win-loss record of 5-6.

Despite his injury-hit season, he could be a useful signing for the Baltimore Orioles as an experienced pitcher. The Orioles recently suffered a big blow when they lost their pitching ace, Corbin Burnes, to free agency.

Burnes signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent and left a big gap in the Orioles pitching department. The lack of experience means that they could benefit from the signing of Justin Verlander.

Other than that, the Orioles announced on Friday they have signed two-time All-Star and 17-year veteran Charlie Morton to a one-year, $15 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

That said, as the 2025 MLB season approaches it would be worth noting how the Baltimore Orioles move to make their pitching lineup as strong as possible.
