As the MLB offseason is going on, all the teams are doing their best to improve their rosters with various trades and free-agent signings. Per The Athletic's Will Sammon and Katie Woo, Baltimore Orioles eye former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty and explore trade options.

Following the departure of Corbin Burnes to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Orioles are looking to improve their pitching rotation.

Meanwhile, the situation surrounding St. Louis Cardinals star Nolan Arenado continues, with trade rumors and his no-trade clause complicating potential moves.

Arenado's future with the Cardinals remains uncertain after he blocked a potential trade to the Houston Astros, according to MLB.com. The eight-time All-Star has a full no-trade clause, which he exercised.

As per CBS Sports, the Cardinals were willing to cover a big portion of Arenado's remaining salary that is approximately $15-20 million over three years, still the third baseman declined the move to the Astros. This decision has left both teams on hold as they reassess their options.

The 2024 season and the other names linked with Nolan Arenado

Nolan Arenado played 152 games for the St. Louis Cardinals last season and hit .272/.325/.394. With 71 RBIs, he was able to hit 16 homers in the 2024 season.

Other than that, Arenado's current situation is uncertain as he is going through the offseason as a free agent. While the Houston Astros showed interest in him earlier, other big names were linked to the player.

As per MLB.com's John Denton, Arenado would say yes to a deal with the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox. However, it is unknown whether these are the only teams on Arenado’s “wish list,” according to Denton.

The New York Yankees were also reportedly interested in signing Arenado. However, there has been a twist regarding the Yankees' interest in Arenado, per New Post's Joel Sherman. No one within the Yankees organization has expressed any interest in trading for Arenado or pursuing him in any significant way.
