He was also the nephew of Peter O’Malley, former owner and President of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Among Seidler’s business endeavors, he established a private equity firm called Seidler Equity Partners in Marina del Rey, California, United States in 1992. He had invested in LA Fitness, the gym chain and Hal Leonard, a music company. His firm purchased Rawlings as co-partners with MLB in 2018.

He later became the Chairman of the team in November 2020.

Moreover, for the 2022 season, he increased the team’s payroll to $214 million, and it became the 6th highest payroll in MLB. The San Diego Padres competed in the NLCS that season.

Peter Seidler again increased the team’s payroll, this time to $237 million for the 2023 season, which then became the 3rd highest payroll in the MLB. He also added and extended contracts for players like Fernando Tatis Jr., Josh Hader, Manny Machado, Joe Musgrove, Yu Darvish, Juan Soto and Xander Bogaerts. His efforts led the San Diego Padres to rank #3 in the NL West Division in the 2023 season. Unfortunately, this was his last season as the owner as he passed away on November 14, 2023.
