The new manager for the San Francisco Giants is Robert Paul Melvin, better known as Bob Melvin. Nicknamed as “Bomel”, he served as the former manager for the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres between 2003 and 2023. Prior to his managing career, Bob Melvin had also been a MLB catcher for teams like the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Chicago Red Sox between 1985 and 1994.
Bob Melvin later reunited with the Arizona Diamondbacks as their bench coach from 2001 - 2002 and won his first World Series Championship. Additionally, he has been declared as Manager of the Year thrice in 2007, 2012 and 2018.
