Shohei Ohtani has already become one of the major talents of the present generation in Major League Baseball (MLB). However, he is a veteran baseball player having played for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham-Fighters in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) from 2013 to 2017. He eventually arrived in the MLB on March 29, 2018, with the Los Angeles Angels and stayed with them till the 2023 season. From the 2024 season onwards, he became a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Nicknamed “Showtime”, Shohei Ohtani has already displayed his star power in MLB and continues to do so. He became a four-time MLB All-Star player and won two AL Silver Slugger Awards and two AL MVP Awards. Moreover, he had also been a two-time home run leader in the league with 44 home runs in 2023 and 54 home runs in 2024. Shohei Ohtani also plays baseball for Team Japan on the international level and has won the 2023 World Baseball Classic with his team.

Shohei Ohtani is presently serving as an active member of the Los Angeles Dodgers during his first postseason in 2024. However, he had suffered from his share of injuries in his MLB career. Notably, he has undergone around 19 different injuries in his career as a baseball player so far as per Fox Sports.

Sprained UCL, Right Elbow

Shohei Ohtani suffered his first injury in MLB on June 7, 2018, as per Fox Sports. He suffered a right elbow UCL sprain and was placed on the 10-day disabled list as per the MLB official site. He had to receive stem cell and platelet-rich plasma injections for his recovery as per Forbes. The team eventually reactivated him from the 10-day disabled list on July 3, 2018.

Knee Injury

Shohei Ohtani suffered from a left knee injury on September 12, 2019, as per Fox Sports. This was a season-ending injury for him and he had to undergo surgery to fix a bipartite patella as per MLB's official site. He required eight to twelve weeks to recover from the incident. He returned for the 2020 MLB season.

Pronator Injury

Shohei Ohtani suffered from a pronator injury on August 3, 2020, as per Fox Sports. He initially felt uncomfortable while pitching during games. It was found that he had suffered a Grade 1-2 flexor pronator mass strain as per MLB Trade Rumors. As a result, the team stopped him from pitching for the remainder of the season and instead, he served as their day-to-day designated survivor.

Oblique Injury

Shohei Ohtani suffered from an oblique injury on September 4, 2023, as per Fox Sports. He initially suffered this injury while taking a swing during batting practice as per the MLB official site. He was placed on the 15-day injured list by the team on September 16, 2023. However, this injury ended the season for him. The team then re-activated him from the 15-day injured list on October 2, 2023, as per the MLB official site.
