Originally known as the Washington Senators from 1961-71, the Texas Rangers rebranded themselves to their present name after relocating to Arlington, Texas, United States in 1972. The team is notable for being the defending MLB champions in the 2024 season, a feat they first achieved in 2023. Additionally, the team has won the American League (AL) Championship thrice and the West Division title seven times so far. Over the years, they have also developed notable rivalries with the Houston Astros ( Lone Star Series) and the Los Angeles Angels.
Moreover, the Rangers' farm system boasts seven minor league affiliations, which include the ACL Rangers, DSL Rangers Blue and the Round Rock Express. The present owners, the Rangers Baseball Express, LLC., acquired the team from its previous owner, Tom Hicks in 2011. Subsequently, Bruce Bochy is the team's manager as of 2025. They also have been using Globe Life Field as their home game stadium since 2020. Prior to this, they used to play at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas.
