In the postseason, power plays well, so home runs are an expected occurrence. They're still a difficult outcome to achieve against theoretically the best pitchers each team has to offer, but they're one of the more common ways of scoring during October.
However, there is just one game on the schedule today. Roughly 18 hitters, with a few extras, will be used by both teams combined. That makes it hard to predict which players will go deep. We've got the best picks to keep an eye on from DraftKings, though. Yesterday, Aaron Judge and Jose Ramirez went yard for two out of our three picks.
Best MLB home run prop bets for October 16
3) Pete Alonso: +380
The New York Mets might tee off on Walker Buehler (0-0 with a 10.80 ERA in the playoffs). He hasn't even recorded a strikeout yet. And among all Mets players, Pete Alonso stands the best chance.
He isn't their best or hottest hitter, but he's been their most consistent power threat for years.
2) Max Muncy: +370
Max Muncy is hot right now, recording two walks and one home run as really the only Los Angeles Dodgers player to do well in Game 2.
Tonight, he faces Luis Severino (1-0, 4.50 ERA in the postseason). Severino has pitched well during the year and into the playoffs, but he isn't the dominant ace he once was. Muncy and company could give him trouble.
1) Shohei Ohtani: +250
Shohei Ohtani is a threat to go deep in every single at-bat. He narrowly missed a two-homer game by a couple of feet earlier in the series, so he is swinging the bat well after a 54-homer performance in the regular season.
If anyone's going to give Severino and the Mets' bullpen trouble, it will be Ohtani. And if the Dodgers are going to win, it's going to take a lot of runs, probably via home run.
