Hitting a home run is not easy, but plenty of players do it on any given MLB game day. Predicting who those players will be is very difficult and depends on quite a few factors. It's even harder when so many teams are off like they are today. To that end, we've compiled the five best picks from DraftKings to watch out for.
Best MLB home run prop bets for September 5
5) Josh Jung: +550
Josh Jung has just six home runs as he's been injured for the majority of the season, only playing 35 games so far. However, he has two in the last week, so the Texas Rangers star is rounding into form of late. He's a longer shot than others, but he has a good chance of going deep against Jack Kochanowicz (2-3, 4.96 ERA).
4) Fernando Tatis Jr.: +450
Fernando Tatis Jr. has 14 home runs in an injury-riddled season. The San Diego Padres star is back and hitting fairly well, though, so he's a good player to pick today. He also has a good pitching matchup with Casey Mize (2-6, 4.25 ERA) and the Detroit Tigers.
3) Spencer Torkelson: +300
Spencer Torkelson isn't having that great of a season, and he only has eight home runs so far. However, he has an advantageous matchup with San Diego Padres starter Martin Perez (4-5, 4.71 ERA). That gives him a pretty good chance of breaking through today.
2) Cal Raleigh: +255
Cal Raleigh hasn't done a lot of hitting this year with a .207 batting average. However, many of his hits have gone out of the park. The Seattle Mariners star has 28 of them so far, and he has a good matchup with Joey Estes (6-6, 4.29 ERA) and the Oakland Athletics.
1) Marcell Ozuna: +250
Marcell Ozuna is today's best pick. The Atlanta Braves DH has the fifth-most home runs in baseball this season with 37. He's having a career year and gets to face Colorado Rockies starter Austin Gomber, who is 4-10 with a 4.69 ERA. It's one of the best pitching matchups and Ozuna is one of the most prolific home run hitters.
