Many players in the modern MLB are capable of hitting a home run at any point. That is part of their success, but it's also part of what makes the emerging prop bet so enticing. Plenty of home runs are hit every single day in the MLB, but only by certain players. Predicting who those are is a huge challenge, one that sports gamblers are all in on these days. Here are today's best bets.
Best MLB home run prop bets July 14
#5) Shohei Ohtani +340
Shohei Ohtani is having one of the best offensive seasons of his career. Having just hit his 200th career home run last night, two things are true. First, Ohtani is in good form and is obviously swinging well. Second, he did just hit a home run, thus lowering the odds of him doing so in back-to-back games. Still, he's not the top bet today, but he is a good one.
#4) Christian Yelich +320
Christian Yelich is swinging the bat very well this year. The slugger, just prior to the All-Star break, has hit 11 and has one in the last week. He's in good form, as he has slugged well all year with an OPS over .900. He might add to that today to cap off his first half for the Milwaukee Brewers.
#3) Julio Rodriguez +310
Julio Rodriguez has been very disappointing this year, posting just 10 home runs and an OPS below .700. Despite that, he is a very talented hitter who is capable of and should break out eventually. Perhaps that will begin today for the Seattle Mariners star.
#2) Aaron Judge +170
Aaron Judge is not today's best bet because he snapped a mini-slump by hitting a home run in back-to-back days. Asking the New York Yankees star to do it in three consecutive games is a tough ask. However, if anyone's capable, it's the man who already has 34 home runs. Why not make it 35 before the break?
#1) Bryce Harper +140
Bryce Harper is today's best bet as the Philadelphia Phillies star is having a terrific season so far with 21 home runs and a .987 OPS (fourth in MLB). He is in good shape and has a great chance to add another to his total today to cap off the first half.
