When an MLB hitter steps up to the plate, his job is to get a hit. They can also walk, but hits generally do more damage than walks do. Some players, naturally, are a lot better at it than others. Either way, during a given day, plenty of hits will be recorded. It's the sports bettors' job to pick who will record more hits each time. With that said, here are the best bets for Wednesday, July 31.
Best MLB hitter prop bets July 31
5) Trea Turner: Over 1.5 +165
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner hasn't done well when facing the New York Yankees in the first two games this week. However, he is a .318 hitter for the season, and he's due for a breakout soon. He's facing Nestor Cortes Jr. who struggles on the road, so Turner's likely to get two hits.
4) Bobby Witt Jr.: Under 1.5 +105
Bobby Witt Jr. has turned it on as of late. The Kansas City Royals shortstop has cemented himself as a true MVP contender and has his season batting average up to .347. That is by far the best mark in baseball, so he's a great candidate to get two hits.
3) Salvador Perez: Under 1.5 -230
Kansas City Royals' Salvador Perez has been surprisingly good for a 34-year-old catcher, hitting .273 with 19 home runs. However, that batting average, while above average for all of the MLB, does not imply a multi-hit game today against Drew Thorpe and the Chicago White Sox.
2) Gabriel Moreno: Under 1.5 -250
Gabriel Moreno is hitting just .258 this year for the Arizona Diamondbacks. That's not a horrible mark by any means, but it indicates that he doesn't get multi-hit games all that often. The odds are overwhelming that he will record one or fewer on July 31.
1) Jarren Duran: Over 1.5 +145
Jarren Duran has been one of baseball's better hitters this year. The Boston Red Sox outfielder is hitting .290 for the season and has nine hits in the last seven days. He's on fire right now and is a good bet for a multi-hit effort today.
