Strikeouts are arguably the most important thing for a pitcher. If they can get strikeouts, they don't rely on their defense and they prevent any batter from feeling good about the result of at-bats. This is a big reason it has become one of the most prominent MLB prop bets. With that in mind, here are today's best bets.
Best MLB strikeout prop bets July 10
5) Corbin Burnes Over 6.5 -115
Corbin Burnes is one of the league's best pitchers, and he is pretty good at racking up strikeouts. The Baltimore Orioles ace is striking out almost a quarter of the batters he's facing and averaging almost one per inning. His line is high and the odds aren't overwhelming, but he is expected to surpass six strikeouts.
4) Bailey Ober Under 6.5 -130
Bailey Ober strikes out 26.7% of batters faced. His K/9 rate for the Minnesota Twins is 9.57, a very solid metric. However, his line today is 6.5, which is a difficult one for most pitchers to clear. The odds don't like his chances of doing that.
3) Chris Bassitt Under 5.5 -140
Chris Bassitt has pitched fairly well this season, but he's not striking batters out at a high rate. The reason he is one of today's best bets is that even though his line is lower than most others, it's still high enough that it throws his chances into doubt. He only needs to reach six, but the odds don't think he will.
2) Nick Pivetta Over 6.5 -125
Nick Pivetta has pitched well for the Boston Red Sox, striking out 28.1% of the batters he has faced. Today, the oddsmakers set his line at six and a half, meaning he'd need to get seven to hit the over, which has the better odds. It's one of today's best bets.
1) Michael King Over 6.5 -155
Michael King has struck out 27% of the batters he has faced in his first season with the San Diego Padres. He has an impressive 10.29 K/9 rate as well. All of that bodes well for him to surpass six strikeouts in today's matchup.
