Every starting pitcher's goal is to win their MLB game, which usually requires getting a lot of strikeouts. It's the perfect outcome of an at-bat for a pitcher, and it's the subject of a prop bet growing rather popular of late. With different over/under lines and odds, we've compiled some of the best bets to look at from DraftKings.
Best MLB strikeout prop bets for August 15
5) Jack Flaherty: Over 6.5 -145
Jack Flaherty has played well for the Detroit Tigers this season and for the Los Angeles Dodgers since the trade deadline. He strikes out an impressive 32.1% of batters. He also has an impressive 11.41 K/9 rate, making him one of today's top options despite his 6.5 line.
4) Logan Webb: Over 5.5 -105
Logan Webb has been great this season, though not exactly in the strikeout department. The San Francisco Giants ace has a 20.5% K rate, below average, and a really low 7.62 K/9 rate. However, the odds are good for his outing today with a slightly lower line.
3) Max Fried: Over 6.5 +115
Max Fried is striking out 22.7% of the batters he has faced, again just below the league average. However, he is taking on the San Francisco Giants. The odds aren't overwhelming, but he has a solid case to get at least seven strikeouts and have a good outing today in a key matchup.
2) Nick Pivetta: Over 5.5 -120
Nick Pivetta is striking out just a tick under 30% of the batters he's faced for the Boston Red Sox, averaging over 11 per nine innings. Despite a tough matchup with the Baltimore Orioles, Pivetta has a lower over/under line and is a great bet as a result.
1) Zack Wheeler: Over 6.5 -110
Zack Wheeler does have a difficult line at 6.5, but the Philadelphia Phillies ace has a 27.5% K rate and 9.84 K/9. He also has a lopsided matchup against the lowly Washington Nationals, so he's a great choice for today's strikeout prop bet.
