MLB starting pitchers go out with the intention of retiring batters, and often, that is by strikeout. It's not the most common outcome, but pitchers do record more than a few every start. Determining how many they'll get is challenging but fun. To that end, we've compiled a list of today's (Sept. 12) best prop bets from DraftKings to keep an eye on. Yesterday, four of the five picks hit.

5) Framber Valdez: Under 7.5 -125
Framber Valdez has pitched well for the Houston Astros, aided by a solid 24.6% K rate and slightly disappointing 8.75 K/9. While far from bad, those numbers don't suggest a big strikeout day, and his line is high. Take the under on the Astros starter, even against the Oakland Athletics.

4) Tarik Skubal: Under 8.5 -130
Tarik Skubal is likely to win the AL Cy Young this year. The Detroit Tigers ace has a blistering 30.3% strikeout rate and is averaging 10.76 per nine innings. Today, his line is high, though. Even against the Colorado Rockies, asking for nine strikeouts is tough. Take the under.
3) Ryan Pepiot: Under 5.5 -145
Ryan Pepiot has pitched well this year. The Tampa Bay Rays starter has a 25.2% strikeout rate and 9.40 K/9. However, he's up against the Cleveland Guardians, who have the best record in the AL right now. Take the under in such a daunting matchup.
2) Jakob Junis: Over 2.5 -160 (safest pick of the day)
Jakob Junis is the safest pick of the day. His line is incredibly low at 2.5, which is almost harder not to clear. He has a 19.8% strikeout rate and 6.88 K/9, which are both low numbers. However, the Cincinnati Reds starter has such a low line that it's hard to pass up.
1) Bryce Miller: Over 5.5 +105 (bold prediction of the day)
Bryce Miller doesn't have overwhelming strikeout numbers. He's setting down 23.8% of batters he has faced to the tune of 8.42 per nine innings. However, he's up against the Texas Rangers, a team that has often struggled. Plus, his line is a tad lower, so take the over.
