MLB pitchers have done their best in a given at-bat when they strike people out. It means they didn't lean on their defense at all. Every day, starting pitchers rack up punchouts, and it's the sports bettor's job to predict how many each one will get. With that in mind, here are Sunday's best bets.
Best MLB strikeout prop bets for August 11
5) MacKenzie Gore: Over 5.5 +105
MacKenzie Gore has been excellent for the Washington Nationals this year, aided by a 24.5% K rate and nearly 10 K/9. On Sunday, his line is rather low, and the odds are pretty decent that he will hit the over against the Los Angeles Angels.
4) Hunter Brown: Over 5.5 -125
Hunter Brown is striking out just a tick smaller than one-quarter of the batters he's faced this year. That translates to more than one strikeout per inning, and the oddsmakers believe he's good to hit six strikeouts on Sunday vs. the Boston Red Sox.
3) Chris Bassitt: Over 5.5 -160
Chris Bassitt has not had the greatest season for the Toronto Blue Jays, but he hasn't been bad. He sports a slightly below-average K rate of 21. 9% and an 8.58 K/9. Nevertheless, with the disappointing Oakland Athletics on the docket on Sunday, the odds are promising for him to go over 5.5 strikeouts.
2) Dylan Cease: Over 7.5 -115
Dylan Cease has struck out 32.4% of the batters he has faced this year for the San Diego Padres. That is one of the best marks in baseball, and it's a good indicator that he should hit the over most days. That includes Sunday, even though the line is fairly high.
1) Tyler Glasnow: Over 7.5 -160
Tyler Glasnow has an impressive 33.1% strikeout rate. That means the Los Angeles Dodgers star is one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball. His line is high, but the odds are promising for him to get eight or more strikeouts vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates.
