MLB starting pitchers usually get quite a few strikeouts. Determining how many they'll get each day is a difficult prop bet, but one that fans have taken to. It depends on a lot of factors and the set over/under line, and to that end, we have compiled a list of the best ones from DraftKings today. Yesterday, three of the picks hit.
Best MLB strikeout prop bets for September 11
5) Cole Ragans: Over 6.5 -125
Cole Ragans has a 29.6% strikeout rate and has been very reliable for the Kansas City Royals. Aside from a late-inning explosion in the first game of the series, the New York Yankees offense hasn't been that good lately, and Ragans has pitched very well. Take the over.
4) Hunter Brown: Under 7.5 -155
Hunter Brown has solid strikeout numbers this year for the Houston Astros: 25.2% K rate and 9.47 K/9. Today, he gets to face the Oakland Athletics. However, his line is high at 7.5, so take the under. Asking for eight strikeouts is a tall task for any pitcher.
3) Zack Wheeler: Under 7.5 -140
Zack Wheeler has been excellent this season, buoyed by very strong strikeout numbers. The Philadelphia Phillies pitcher is striking out 27.7% of batters he's faced. Still, the 7.5 line is pretty high, so it's better to take the under as he is up against the Tampa Bay Rays.
2) Shane Baz: Under 5.5 -165 (Safest pick of the day)
Shane Baz has not been great in the strikeout department. He's striking out just over one out of every five batters to the tune of a 7.53 K/9. He's facing the Philadelphia Phillies today, so take the under for our safest pick of the day.
1) Blake Snell: Over 7.5 +115 (Bold Prediction of the day)
Blake Snell has pitched very well for the San Francisco Giants, including posting an absurd 32.7% strikeout rate and 12 K/9. Even still, the line is high and he's facing the Milwaukee Brewers, which is why he's today's bold pick. Take the over anyway.
