Left field may not be as stacked or star-studded in free agency as right field (thanks to Juan Soto and Teoscar Hernandez mostly), but it's a deep class of talented veterans. Whether for clubhouse roles or to be everyday players, there are plenty of good players to keep track of at this position.
Top left field free agents in MLB
#10. David Peralta
David Peralta didn't have a good stretch entering free agency with 0.2 fWAR. At 37, his better days may be behind him. However, he did have a good playoff run with the San Diego Padres and could sign another one-year, $4.75 million deal.
#9. Adam Duvall
Over the last two seasons, Adam Duvall has only accrued 0.4 fWAR. Despite that and his age (36), he is a proven playoff performer with a lot of experience. That plays well in free agency, where he could sign for one year at $5.5 million.
#8. Jesse Winker
Jesse Winker is coming off a two-year stretch with just 0.5 fWAR, but his relative playoff success with the New York Mets might portend a stronger deal. He's 31, but he doesn't warrant more than a one-year, $7 million contract.
#7. Tommy Pham
Tommy Pham, who seems to be a free agent or is traded all the time, is a free agent again. He last played with the Kansas City Royals and had a big role in their playoff run, but a one-year, $7.5 million deal with someone else may be in the cards.
#6. Michael Conforto
Michael Conforto's last two years haven't been the best of his career, but he still finds himself as one of the most valuable players in this class of LF free agents at 2.0 fWAR. He could sign a one-year, $11 million contract.
#5. Alex Verdugo
Alex Verdugo's New York Yankees tenure didn't go very well. He recorded 2.0 fWAR in two seasons and is still just 28. He is likely to find a new home for the next couple of seasons. A two-year, $19 million contract would be a good deal.
#4. Austin Hays
Austin Hays didn't have a strong close to the season, but he still accumulated 2.7 fWAR in 2023 and 2024. At 29, he's one of the youngest options here. The former Philadelphia Phillies star could sign a three-year, $31 million deal.
#3. Mark Canha
Over the last two seasons, Mark Canha has been worth 2.7 fWAR, the second-most in this group. He is 35, so a long-term deal may not be in the cards. A one-year deal with a higher AAV, perhaps $11 million or a two-year, $18 million contract makes sense.
#2. Tyler O'Neill
Tyler O'Neill had a breakout year with home runs last year in a Boston Red Sox uniform. Over the last two years, he has led this crop of free agents in left-field fWAR (3.1) and could be in line for a three-year, $36 million contract.
#1. Jurickson Profar
Jurickson Profar finally broke out last year and, over the last two seasons, has been one of the best left-field free agents. He earned 2.7 fWAR in 2023 and 2024, most of it coming last year. Look for a three-year, $45 million deal for him.
