Top 15 MLB All-Star game snubs from both leagues ft. Christian Walker, Grayson Rodriguez, Ronel Blanco, and more

With the 2024 MLB All-Star game only a week away, players are gearing up to showcase their field in front of a Texas crowd at Globe Life Field on July 16. All the 32 players taking the field in the coming week have been announced.

It will be a bitter pill to swallow for those who would have to watch the game on the sidelines after narrowly missing the cut to make the All-Star team. Here are our top 15 players who got snubbed from this year's MLB Mid Summer Classic

Top players who got snubbed from 2024 MLB All-Star Game

American League snubs

1) Ronel Blanco, Houston Astros

The Astros ace threw the MLB's first no-hitter this season. His 2.53 ERA ranks fourth in the AL and is seventh with a 1.01 WHIP.

2) Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles

Santander has hit 23 home runs and ranked first among those not selected for the game. His 57 RBIs ranks third among outfielders and ninth overall in AL.

3) Brent Rooker, Oakland Athletics

Rooker was a tough snub for the All-Star team, given Mason Miller was already there, and picking another A's player could have been a little too much for a team sitting at 34-58. Putting those aside, Rooker is top-10 in the AL with 18 home runs and .890 OPS.

4) Willi Castro, Minnesota Twins

For someone slashing .271/.357/.438 with 22 doubles, five triples, seven homers, 10 steals and 54 runs, one would feel Castro to be a big snub from the MLB All-Star team despite putting up a show at every facet of hitting.

5) George Kirby, Seattle Mariners

Kirby's 3.39 ERA mark might have been too much, but his 1.00 WHIP and 109 strikeouts in 111.2 innings should have been good enough to book him a spot on the MLB All-Star team.

6) Joe Ryan, Minnesota Twins

Another good pitcher with good strikeout to walk ratio but still getting snubbed is Joe Ryan from Twins. He has 118 strikeouts and 16 walks along with 3.29 ERA and 0.97 WHIP this MLB season.

7) Jordan Westbrug, Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have the most representatives on the AL squad, and that's what might have kept out Westbrug who's having a phenomenal year. He's hitting .281 with a .506 slugging percentage along with 20 doubles, five triples, 14 homers, 49 RBI, 44 runs and six stolen bases.

8) Grayson Rodriguez, Baltimore Orioles

Another Orioles player who was snubbed is Rodriguez, who despite pitching for 11-3 and 105 Ks, couldn't find his place in the MLB All-Star star-studded roster.

National League snubs

1) Christian Walker, Arizona Diamondbacks

Walker is coming off an incredible series against the Dodgers but wasn't picked among the reserves announced on Sunday. He will have to wait for a while to get his first All-Star selection despite hitting 22 home runs and .853 OPS on the season.

2) Cristopher Sanchez, Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies have the most representation among pitchers, with four, but it could have been five, based purely on numbers. Cristopher Sanchez's 2.96 ERA is sixth in the league, and he's among a few NL pitchers to have thrown a shut out this season.

3) Francisco Lindor, New York Mets

Lindor might only be hitting .250, but he's so much more than that. He fills statsheet across different categories. He has 25 doubles, 15 homers and 16 steals on the season.

4) Brandon Nimmo, New York Mets

Nimmo is another offensive all-rounder from the Mets who was snubbed. He has 17 doubles, two triples and 13 homers to go along with 8-8 on stolen bases.

5) Jake Irvin, Washington Nationals

Irvin has been one of best pitchers on the Nats. He's pitching a 2.80 ERA with 1.00 WHIP.

6) Trevor Megill, Milwaukee Brewers

Going 18-19 in save opportunities and pitching to a 1.59 ERA and 0.99 WHIP should have him announced as replacement for the game if any reliever is injured or exits the game.

7) Masyn Winn, St. Louis Cardinals

The final name on our list of snubs is Masyn Winn, who is slashing .294/.343/.416 along with 3.4 WAR, which ranks him eighth among position players in the league.
