Fans reacted as Aaron Judge's postseason woes with the New York Yankees continued as they fell to a 6-3 defeat in Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
Despite having a 2-1 lead for most of the game and leading 3-2 in the 10th inning, the Yankees were undone by a Freddie Freeman walk-off grand slam at Dodger Stadium.
In his seventh postseason run with New York, Judge has finally made it to the World Series for the first time but got off to a rocky start. All of his postseason runs have ended in disappointment, and MLB fans took the chance to troll him on social media. Here's a look at the top five memes following the Yankees' defeat in Game 1:
Aaron Judge was selected by the New York Yankees in the 2013 MLB Draft and went on to make his major league debut with them in 2016. He won the AL Rookie of the Year in his first full season with them and has since established himself as one of the best sluggers the game has ever seen. With six All-Star appearances and a AL MVP award, Judge has finished as the AL home run leader three times in his career.
Despite all his individual accomplishments in the league, Judge has never won the World Series and is only making his first appearance in it this year.
While there's no doubt of his abilities on the big stage, the slugger struggled to make an impact in Game 1, going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. Despite the Yankees being decent in defence, Giancarlo Stanton was the only Yankee to hit big on offense.
It remains to be seen if Judge can step up and turn things around for the Yankees in the games ahead.
