Travis Smith is an American right-handed pitcher who recently transferred to Mississippi State after three seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats. He began his high school baseball career at the Walton-Verona High School where he was ranked the No. 84 player in the class of 2021. Smith was voted First-Team All-State by the Kentucky High School. Smith was the highest-rated signee in Kentucky baseball’s 2021 recruiting class. In his final year of prep school, Smith posted a 3.41 ERA with a 4-2 record and struck out 78 batters in just 35.2 innings of work.

He embarked on his collegiate baseball journey with the Wildcats but underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021. His freshman campaign served as a redshirt year and returned to the mound in 2023. Smith posted a 4-3 record with a 4.84 ERA, 43 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. This year as a redshirt sophomore, Smith finished the season with a 3-4 record and had a 6.21 ERA with 33 strikeouts as opposed to 22 walks. After helping Kentucky to their first-ever participation in the College World Series, the talented pitcher decided to transfer to Mississippi State Bulldogs with two years of eligibility remaining. Smith has been established as one of the hardest throwers in the country with his fastball topping at 97mph.
