At the tender age of 24, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has already established himself as one of the stars of the Toronto Blue Jays. His talent and work rate have made him a fan favorite in Ontario. Luckily for Blue Jay fans, Guerrero Jr. isn't going anywhere.
The highly rated slugger recently agreed to a one-year, $14.5 million contract to avoid arbitration. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2025 season.
Asked about his long-term plans, Guerrero Jr. insisted he is keen to remain in the Great White North.

Guerrero Jr. was speaking during an interview with Hazel Mae on Sportsnet.

The Blue Jays took a risk when they signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as a 16-year-old for $3.9 million in 2015. The gamble seems to have paid off. The righty has developed into one of MLB's premier power hitters.
The infielder is a two-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner. He also won a Silver Slugger Award and a Hank Aaron Award in 2021.
Guerrero Jr. led the league in 2021 with 48 home runs (tied with the Kansas City Royals' Salvador Perez). Last season, he finished seventh in the American League with 32 homers.
Overall, Guerrero Jr. has recorded 106 home runs and 316 RBIs over 512 total games with the Blue Jays. He has a lifetime average of .286 and an impressive .867 OPS.

Since promoting Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the majors in 2019, the Toronto Blue Jays have transformed from not quite there yet to playoff contenders. The club has reached the postseason in two of the last three years. They finished with a win-loss percentage above .530 in all three of those seasons.
Led by Guerrero Jr., the Jays are once again off to a strong start. They currently lie second in the American League East with a 5-3 record.

Blue Jays fans will be wondering what the hold up is. Both parties seem keen to work out a deal to keep the slugger in Toronto. It seems like it's just a matter of time before Vladimir Guerrero Jr. completes a long-term deal with the Blue Jays.
