Walker Anthony Buehler of Lexington, Kentucky, United States, has been a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB) for seven years as of 2024. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th round of the 2012 MLB draft but he declined it and chose to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He eventually won the 2014 NCAA Division I College World Series title with his team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Walker Buehler in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft as the #24th overall pick and he started his professional career with the AZL Dodgers in 2016. He finally made his MLB debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 7, 2017. Since then, he has gone on to become the World Series Champion in 2020. Moreover, he also earned two NL All-Star Awards from his two MLB All-Star games in 2019 and 2021.

Right Rib Microfracture and Right Rib Soreness

This was Walker Buehler’s first injury in the MLB. HE was drilled on the right side of his chest due to a 108 mph hit from Trevor Story on May 21, 2018, as per the MLB official site. His X-ray tests initially proved to be negative and he continued to play with his team. However, he was feeling the pain and his right rib microfracture was discovered later in an MRI. As a result, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 12, 2018, and was reactivated on June 28, 2018. Unfortunately, he was again placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 29, 2018, due to his suffering from right rib soreness. He played in the minor leagues while recovering as per the MLB official site. He eventually returned on July 13, 2020.

Elbow Injury

Walker Buehler suffered from an elbow injury on June 10, 2022, when he had to leave a game against the San Francisco Giants after four innings as per True Blue LA. He had to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs. Unfortunately, he also had to undergo Tommy John surgery to replace his UCL and fix his flexor tendon. He was unable to return to the field for the rest of the 2022 season and the entire 2023 season. Walker Buehler was finally reactivated by the team on November 6, 2023.

Hip Injury

Walker Buehler suffered from a right hip inflammation on June 19, 2024, and had to be placed on the 15-day injured list as per the MLB official site. He had been facing problems with his hip for some time and spent his rehab assignment with the minor leagues. The Los Angeles Dodgers finally reactivated from the 15-day injured list on August 14, 2024.
