Formed in 1969, the Washington Nationals were originally based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and were known as “The Montreal Expos”. The team relocated to Washington D.C., United States, after being bought by Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2004. They started their first season under their rebranded name in 2005. Since then, they have won the World Series once in 2019 alongside winning the NL pennant the same year. Notably, they are also two-time recipients of the NL East Division title.
They have managed to produce several franchise players throughout both incarnations like Bryce Harper, Juan Soto, Ryan Zimmerman, Stephen Strasburg, and Anthony Rendon. They are also notable for hosting the President’s Race at their home games since 2006. The Washington Nationals have used Nationals Park as their home ground since 2008.
