Former Los Angeles Dodger Justin Turner made his return to Dodger Stadium for the first time since signing for the Boston Red Sox in 2023. He was part of the Seattle Mariners starting lineup for the series opener on Monday.

Ahead of the first game of the series, the former World Series winner received a warm welcome from several former teammates. Veteran Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw handed him a $10,000 check on behalf of the Dodgers, a donation to the Justin Turner Foundation.

The Justin Turner Foundation was founded by the former Dodgers star and his wife, Kourtney, in 2016. It aims to provide support to veterans and children fighting life-altering ailments.

Turner spent nine years with the Dodgers in LA, helping the team to a World Series title in 2020. The two-time All-Star opted for free agency in December 2022 and signed with the Red Sox for the 2023 season.

Following a year in Boston, he made the switch to the Toronto Blue Jays in the past offseason. However, he was traded to the Mariners ahead of the trade deadline last month.

Justin Turner grateful for hero's welcome on his Dodger Stadium return

Although he is wearing a Mariners jersey now, Dodgers fans and players showed him love. There was a huge round of applause for Justin Turner during his first at-bat in the second inning of the game.

Turner acknowledged the applause, saying:

"It was cool. It was really special. I'm grateful for the Dodgers organization for putting it together, and seeing all the guys come out of the dugout for that certainly was special. I'm glad I got the opportunity to come back and play some games in front of these fans. They were everything to me."

Turner went 1-3 during his outing, registering one of only two hits for the Mariners offense in a 3-0 shutout loss. The loss pegged the Mariners further behind AL West leaders the Houston Astros as Seattle has now lost six of their last seven games.
