What to expect from NY Yankees Opening Day lineup
The NY Yankees Opening Day lineup features a few interesting notes. First, with Harrison Bader sidelined for the time being, Aaron Judge slides over to center field and Giancarlo Stanton replaces him in right.
Utility man Oswaldo Cabrera will be the left fielder and, as expected, Anthony Volpe will be the starting shortstop. He'll be the first Yankees rookie to start on Opening Day at shortstop since the legendary Derek Jeter.
This is a top-heavy lineup with a lot of heavy hitters. Expect DJ LeMahieu, Judge, Anthony Rizzo and Stanton to do well today. As for the others, it may be a mixed bag.
Josh Donaldson and Gleyber Torres had down offensive seasons last year and Volpe and Cabrera are relative unknowns. Still, this is a lineup to be feared as they chase their 28th World Series ring.
