In November 1995, former Cleveland Guardians star Albert Belle got into legal trouble due to a dispute he had with a group of teenagers who were trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Apparently, the situation started when Belle's father rejected trick-or-treaters. The exact reason remains unknown but it could be possibly because he had run out of candy or was not willing to participate in Halloween customs.
Now, in response, a group of teenagers who showed up at the door retaliated by throwing eggshells at Belle's house.
“As soon as he closes the door, we hear a bombardment of egg shells on my door,” Belle said as published by Los Angeles Times.
Consequently, an angry Belle was accused of chasing after the teenagers using his car.
In a fit of rage, he also threatened to kill them over the phone by dialling 911.
"You better get somebody over here, because if I find one of them, I’ll kill them," said Belle reporting to the Euclid Police Department.
According to reports, since Belle's car came into contact with one of the teenagers, the boy's parent filed a lawsuit against Albert in 1996, seeking $850,000 in compensation for damages.
The legal proceedings lasted for approximately a year, and in 1997, the lawsuit was resolved outside of court.
Police did not discover any bruises on the teenager's leg struck by Albert Belle's vehicle
In January 1996, a Cleveland Heights boy contended that the former Cleveland Guardians star Albert Belle recklessly chased him in his car leaving his back, neck, left knee, and right leg injured.
However, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, the Euclid Police did not observe any signs of bruising or scrapes on the teenage boy's leg, despite his guardian's claim that he had been struck by the former MLB outfielder's vehicle.
