In September 2017, just before the MLB's waiver trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers acquired prospects from the Houston Astros in exchange for All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander.
The moment the trade news broke, former Astros shortstop Carlos Correa went wild to learn about Justin's entry into the team. Correa threw his PS4 controller up in the air and broke it in ecstasy. He said:
"I remember I was playing PS four down in double A, and I just drove my remote to the ceiling, and I broke the remote because I was so excited to see how obviously big Arm in a rotation. I was excited that I broke my controller, and I couldn't play anymore.”
Carlos also went on to mention how Justin is one of the best MLB pitchers and would immensely help the Astros.

Other than Correa, everyone else in the club was equally excited to have Verlander in the franchise.
Justin Verlander was happy to be traded to Houston Astros
Despite spending the first 13 years of his career with the Detroit Tigers, Justin Verlander was happy to be traded to the Houston Astros. He said:
"I tell you, man, it really made me feel special. It makes you feel so embraced, seeing everybody, seeing how excited they were when I met them face-to-face. To hear and feel and see that emotion before I’m even here, man.
It made me feel so much more comfortable coming into a scary situation, really. This is so unique, so different, a first-day-of-school feeling," said Justin to USA TODAY Sports about receiving a warm welcome from the team.
Justin Verlander's first game with Houston was against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field, and he was happy to debut in front of his then-fiancee Kate Upton.
In November 2017, the Astros went on to win their first World Series title by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers, earning Verlander his first championship. Five years later, in November 2022, Houston won their second World Series title by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies.

After clinching his second championship title, Justin Verlander became a free agent. He signed a two-year, $86.7 million contract with the New York Mets on December 7, 2022.
