MLB star Derek Jeter spent 20 years with the New York Yankees. In 2006, during the World Baseball Classic, the All-Star was honored to represent team USA and took pride in donning Team USA's jersey.
When asked if switching from pinstripes to red, white, and blue felt patriotic, Jeter replied that it did, as reported by the New York Times in 2009. He said:
“No question, you definitely have a sense of pride when you’re wearing the uniform of your country and you go out on the field and listen to the national anthem. It is something I wish everyone got the chance to experience.”
Jeter is a native of Michigan, where his mother is an accountant and his father is a substance abuse counselor.

Given that his father played baseball as a hobby, Derek developed a liking for the game from his family.

In an interview with the Daily Mail in 2009, Jeter discussed his feelings over his first World Series victory and said:
“Anytime you win at home it is special, but winning the 1996 World Series stands out because it’s the first time we did it"
The player is married to Hannah Davis and the couple share three daughters.
