Jose Altuve, a standout for the Houston Astros, resisted taking off his shirt after hitting a home run in the ALCS in 2019. This was unexpected because it's customary for fans to rip players' jerseys off during revelries.
Former Astros star Carlos Correa shed light on Altuve's refusal of jersey-ripping celebration. As reported by the Guardian in 2020, providing the logic behind Altuve's refusal, Correa said:
“He’s got an unfinished tattoo on his collarbone ... that honestly looked terrible. It was a bad tattoo, and he didn’t want nobody to see it. He didn’t want to show it at all.”
Altuve claimed he was "too shy" to take off his shirt during his post-game interview. He said:
“I’m too shy. But last time they did that, I got in trouble with my wife.”

Houston Astros cheating scandal may not have involved Jose Altuve but Carlos Correa
Altuve was implicated in the incident, but he denied the allegations, saying that he never used a buzzer to notify teammates of pitches. Correa said in February 2020 that he had benefited unfairly from a technology that let hitters know which pitches were coming.
Correa is a shortstop for the Minnesota Twins. The Astros, who picked him first overall in the 2012 MLB draft, were his former MLB team. Altuve joined the Astros in 2007 as an amateur free agent, and in 2011 made his major league debut.
