During the World Baseball Classic game between Canada and Mexico in March 2013, a brawl broke out between the two teams.

Mexico was losing, and as tension grew between the teams, the brawl began. Mexican pitcher Arnold Leon threw inside pitches at Rene Tosoni, drawing a warning from the umpire. Leon hit Tosoni on the shoulder with his next pitch, starting the brawl started in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

USA Today reported on the brawl, with Larry Walker, the Canadian coach, saying:

"Their third baseman was telling (Leon) to hit him right in the ribs. I couldn't believe he didn't get tossed."

Walker said he grabbed Mexico first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and told him:

"You're too important to the game to get hurt in this."

However, Walker fight another player from Mexico, Alfredo Aceves.

"I had a hold of him, and I thought I saw Satan in his eye," Walker said.

This World Baseball Classic game didn't just continue on the field. Someone in the stands threw a bottle at Canadian pitching coach Denis Boucher, and shortstop Cale Iorg threw the bottle back into the stands.

When the brawl began in 2013 at the World Baseball Classic, fingers were pointed at each other. However, it is known that it was team Mexico that started the brawl.

Team Canada was not happy with the brawl.

"You can't hurt us Canadians,'' Team Canada manager Ernie Whitt said of Leon.

He continued with:

"There's got to be another method other than running up the score on the opposing team. No one likes that. That's not the way baseball's supposed to be played.''

Team Mexico manager Rick Renteria said:

"In a normal professional setting, a 9-3 bunt in that particular situation would be kind of out of the ordinary. But based on the rules that have been established in this tournament, the run differential and things of that nature, those things may occur.
"In the heat of the game, everybody needs to understand that when you're playing professional baseball, situations like this arise. And some of these things we do not consider them normal or correct. In (Leon's) mind, according to what he's used to, he's like, well, his mind went somewhere else.''

Team Canada won 9-3. However, in their next World Baseball Classic game, the Canadians lost to Team Italy 14-4.
