In February 2017, former San Francisco Giants star Aubrey Huff detailed his struggles in his book, "Baseball Junkie". Among all other personal struggles, Huff penned down his broken marriage with his ex-wife, Barbara "Baubi" Heaton.

Apparently, the root of his internal pain was drug abuse, which caused troubling effects on his conjugal life. Huff said:

Aubrey and Barbara tied the knot on January 27, 2007. Five years later, they got divorced due to rising differences. The former couple has two sons.

In 2009, Aubrey Huff started using a combo medication called Adderall (a prohibited drug by MLB) while playing for the Baltimore Orioles. With a hangover and the thought of playing a day game following a night game, Aubrey learned about Adderall from a former teammate.

The drug is prohibited by MLB. Baseball players are only permitted to obtain Adderall on a prescription if they are granted a 'Therapeutic Use Exemption' by their doctors.

For Huff, the combo medication worked, and he felt energized within half an hour of consuming it. He said:

"I had never felt, within 30 minutes, more alive, more energetic, more confident, invincible," Huff said. "I thought, well, [shoot], no wonder so many guys in the league are on that stuff. I went 0-for-4 and I felt like I went 4-for-4"

The next thing Aubrey knew was that he was hooked. He added:

"From that moment on I was hooked. ... I was crushing 20, sometimes 50, 60, almost 100 milligrams daily, depending on the pressure of the game"

Aubery Huff also claimed that in addition to using narcotics, he later became dependent on alcohol for sleep, consuming 12 to 15 beers after games.

Throughout his major league career, he played with Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2000–2006), Houston Astros (2006), Baltimore Orioles (2007–2009), Detroit Tigers (2009), and San Francisco Giants (2010–2012).

With the Giants, he went on to clinch two World Series (2010, 2012).
