Wilyer Abreu is an American outfielder for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on June 24, 1999, in Venezuela, Abreu began his professional baseball journey when he signed with the Houston Astros as an international free agent on July 2, 2017. After gaining experience in minor leagues, including the Dominican Summer League, Abreu was traded to the Red Sox in 2022.

Following the trade, Abreu continued to develop his game. He finally debuted with the Red Sox on August 22, 2023, against his former team Houston Astros. In his debut season, Abreu impressed by batting .316 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 28 games. His solid performance at Triple-A Worcester, where he hit 22 home runs, earned him a spot on the post-season Triple-A all-star team.
