San Diego Padres stars Juan Soto and Manny Machado both hit massive home runs to seal the win. The star power of Team Dominican Republic was simply too much for Team Nicaragua to overcome.
If Team Dominican Republic play this way moving forward, they will be one of the hardest teams to eliminate in the tournament.

Team Dominican Republic have a lot of MLB talent on their roster. In addition to Soto and Machado, Seattle Mariners phenom Julio Rodriguez and Boston Red Sox infielder Rafael Devers also contributed at the plate. Even if some of their star players have bad games, they have the depth to overcome it.
Anything can happen in the World Baseball Classic, but Team Dominican Republic proved why they are the favorites. They are a team united and stacked with talent that would strike fear in an MLB All-Star team. This could be the beginning of a hot streak that ends with them hosting the WBC trophy.
