Jorge Posada, the four-time world champion, was extremely dissatisfied with how his time with the Yankees ended. Posada, who debuted with the Yankees in 1995, was part of the team until 2011. He was part of the team for 16 seasons, however, at the end of his career, the catcher felt discontent with his team's actions.

These actions were when he was demoted as a designated hitter after spending more than a decade as a catcher. Posada, in his biography "The Journey Home: My Life in Pinstripes" wrote how it all began when the Yankees manager changed from Joe Torre to Joe Girardi.

He started feeling left out and the culture of the team itself also changed, making him feel estranged from his team. In his book, he wrote the following that summed up how he was feeling at the time:

"I knew that my role with the club was changing, but I don't think that anyone making those decisions knew how much the things being done hurt me"

Posada added:

"To have even that taken away from me without adequate explanation, hurt me and confused me"

Jorge Posada wore the number 20 Jersey for the Yankees, which was retired by the organization in August 2015.

Jorge Posada was the catcher for the Yankees for 15 seasons, and it was during 2011, the last season that he played, that he was demoted. Posada did not take it well as he had also undergone surgery on his left knee after the 2010 season.

Feeling dismayed by his circumstances, he wrote in his biography how these incidents one after another took a toll on him.

The catcher wrote:

"If I wasn't even considered third-string, then what was I? How did I fit in? I felt like I wasn't being treated right, that people weren't always being as straightforward with me as I wanted them to be or treating me as I deserved to be treated, and I exploded. I'd just put up with enough."

After the 2011 season, the player waited for the Yankees to make another deal with him. Though no deal came from the team, there were many others waiting to offer him a spot.

However, Posada, loyal to the organization he debuted with, decided to retire after the Yankees failed to make him an offer.
