Last night, things did not go well for the New York Yankees as they lost game one against the Tampa Bay Rays. Offense has been a major issue for the Yanks and they continued to lack consistency.
Ben Rice went deep with a two-run homer during the top of the seventh inning. However, Carlos Rodon had a disastrous performance—surrendering four earned runs and walking two opponent hitters in 4.0 innings. Despite five strikeouts, he dropped his record to 9-7.
Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman will get the ball in game two where he hopes to revive his team. He currently has a 7-4 record and a 3.58 ERA.
Their opponent—the Rays—is likely out of postseason contention as they are one of the teams that are struggling below the .500 mark. Ryan Pepiot increased his record to 5-5 and had a strong outing for Tampa Bay while New York's bullpen failed to provide enough support.
With a 5-5 record and a 4.19 ERA, Zach Eflin will get the ball in their next match.

Yankees vs. Rays Prediction
The Yanks have not seen any improvement from both ends of their game. While Luis Gil might be getting back on track, control issues plagued the other pitchers.
Aaron Judge and Juan Soto seemed to be doing their job, but the rest of the Yanks' offense has wasted several opportunities. Their next series would be against the Baltimore Orioles; and from the way things look, it's safe to say that things won't get any easier for them.
As for the Rays, the odds appear to be in their favor to win game two. Even if Stroman lasts for six-plus innings, the Yanks must open up their offense.
