For most games this season, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox rivalry has lived up to its name. The two clubs have played out some close encounters, with the Red Sox leading 5-3. As they head into their ninth game on Sunday at Fenway Park, another fierce battle is expected to be played out.
The Red Sox took Game 1, overcoming an Aaron Judge masterclass. They took Yankees bullpen arms of Luke Weaver and Clay Holmes to the cleaners on Friday night.
The opposite happened in Game 2, though, as the Yankees plundered four runs against the Red Sox bullpen to script an extra-innings victory.

Yankees vs. Red Sox: Game 3 Prediction
Game 2 saw a combined total of 29 hits and 19 runs scored. Therefore, it's safe to say that the pitching matchup will be of particular note.
Carlos Rodon starts on the mound for the Yankees. He showed some signs of regaining his form in his last start, earning a much needed win against the Tampa Bay Rays in a seven innings, one-run outing. He fanned 10 batters on Monday and will look to pick up from where he left off.
Meanwhile, Tanner Houck goes up against Rodon. The Boston starter has had a solid season, with a 8-6 record and 2.71 ERA in 20 starts. In his last outing, Houck gave away four runs on 10 hits. Barring that game, the Red Sox have only lost one once when he has started since May 22.
Aaron Judge had a stellar four-hit night. The Yankees captain has hit two gigantic home runs and will look to extend his lead over Shohei Ohtani in the home run race.
Juan Soto, meanwhile, has also been in hot form, hitting 17-44 with nine RBIs over the last 10 games. For Boston, Tyler O'Neill has produced similar numbers hitting 12 RBIs in the same stretch.
