Alexis Ajinca: A Brief Biography

Alexis Ajinca is a French professional basketball player who plays as Center. He BMX rider early on in his life and had multiple top-5 finishes in the UCI World Championships for his age group. Before joining the NBA he played for French clubs Pau-Orthez and Hyères-Toulon. Ajinca was drafted with the 20th pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Charlotte Bobcats (Now Hornets).

Ajinca played in 31 games during his rookie season. In his second season, he was assigned to the Maine Red Claws. On July 13, 2010, Ajinca was traded, along with Tyson Chandler, to the Dallas Mavericks for Erick Dampier, Eduardo Najera, Matt Carroll, and cash considerations. He was once again on a move when he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. After the 2011 NBA lockout, he signed for French club SIG Strasbourg. Ajinca was part of the French team which won gold at EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia.

Ajinca signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in December of 2013. During the season he recorded 3 double-doubles and scored in double figures 13 times. He made his NBA Playoffs debut against the Golden State Warriors in round 1 in 2015. On April 8, 2016, he scored a career-high of 28 points with 15 rebounds against the Los Angeles Lakers. Ajinca missed entire of 2017-18 due to a knee injury. On October 15, 2018, Ajinça was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for Wesley Johnson and was later waived by the Clippers immediately.
