Anthony Davis is a professional basketball power forward who plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA as of February 2025. Ten-time NBA All-Star, also known as AD is named to the All-NBA team five times. Davis was selected as the first overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets (now New Orleans Pelicans). While playing for the New Orleans Hornets, Davis was the three-time block leader (2014, 2015, and 2018). He played seven seasons for the Pelicans before getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He led the Lakers to win the NBA Championship in 2020 along with LeBron James. As of February 2025, Anthony Davis has been named to the All-Defensive team five times and was also named to the 75th Anniversary Team. In February 2025, Anthony Davis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris.

Before entering the NBA, AD went to the University of Kentucky for his college career. In 2011-12 seasons for the Kentucky Wildcats, Anthony Davis was named National College Player of the Year, and SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and led Kentucky to an NCAA championship. AD also took home the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award and was the NCAA blocks leader that year. For his high school career, Davis went to Perspectives Charter and was known for his three-point shooting from the corners. Anthony Davis first joined Team USA in 2012 just at the age of 19 following several injuries on the original roster for the 2012 London Olympics. Although Davis did not have NBA experience at the time, he was brought in as a finalist to fill the center position on the Olympic team. In the London Olympics, Team USA went undefeated and won the gold medal.

Two years later, Anthony Davis returned to the American national basketball team for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. He again helped Team USA win another gold medal, as he averaged 12.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game across nine games. Then in 2024, AD was again selected for the American Olympic team, returning after a decade. He played a crucial role in Team USA’s gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, averaging 8.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and leading in blocks while shooting an efficient 62.5% from the field, according to USA Basketball.
