Carmelo Kyam Anthony is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. Born on May 29, 1984, in the Red Hook Housing projects, Brooklyn, he has had a great interest in basketball since his childhood.


During his college career, he played for the Syracuse Orange. In 2003, he won a national championship as a freshman and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament. He is regarded as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history.


Anthony entered the 2003 NBA draft and was selected as the third overall pick by the Denver Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony was recruited by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played for only one season with this team and then moved to the Portland Trail Blazers for two seasons. Later, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
