Number of NBA championships won by Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have won three NBA titles in their history. They won their first title in the 1988-89 season, winning against the Los Angeles Lakers in the finals. Adopting the nickname of “Bad Boy Pistons” and the violent style of play, the Pistons went on to win another championship in the 1989-90 NBA season.

The Detroit Pistons made it to the post season most recently in the 2018 NBA finals. They finished the season positioned 8th on the Eastern Conference standings and faced the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1st round of the 2018 playoffs. Despite the team’s valiant efforts, the Pistons were swept out of the season with a 4-0 loss against the Bucks.


The Pistons were led by Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond at the time and were found to be no match against the Milwaukee Bucks who posted the best record in that season. However, the season was considered to be a success for the Pistons considering they made it to the postseason, which was something they had failed to do in the recent past.
